Vintage crochet with Friends

The Library celebrated the launch of Vintage Crochet from NLA Publishing with a week long program of creative connections.

Vintage Crochet builds on the wild success of Vintage Knits (2022) and features vintage patterns from Australian publications - such as Australian Women’s Weekly, The Woman’s Mirror and even The Colonist - from as far back as 1888.

Stepping into the timeless world of crochet, this was a Friends-exclusive instructional workshop and talk by Melody Lord, editor of Vintage Crochet.

Facilitators from the Crochet Guild of Australia guided the session and participants could partake in one or more activities: basic (granny squares), intermediate (pattern from the book), or advanced (your own project from home). Light afternoon tea was served from 12:30 pm.

Friends received an extra special discount when purchasing the book, and took home a 'Take and Make' pack which contained everything you need to create your own project. Whether you're a novice or an expert, there's something for everyone to learn and enjoy in this relaxed social setting.
